Process optimization

Methods such as CIP (Continuous Process Improvement), Lean Management, Six Sigma or Total Quality Management offer additional benefits for companies.

They provide systematic procedures for measuring, analyzing, and improving or realigning processes with key figures. As a result, a high amount of potential has already been realized.

However, once these methods have been established in the company and applied over a certain period, new questions often arise that go beyond the analysis of individual processes:

  • How does a one-off process improvement remain effective in the long term?
  • How can cross-divisional processes be considered instead of stopping at the divisional processes?
  • How do you develop a holistic view of the processes and their interfaces?

Concepts and methods must be developed and implemented that go beyond individual process improvements and further strengthen process orientation within the organization. Process analysis is often linked to automation and digitalization initiatives.

Process-oriented corporate management deals with these questions and provides answers. For example, the following is implemented in a process-oriented organization:

  • End-to-end processes are documented, which also provide the service for the customer across departmental boundaries.
  • A process map and a consistent process model provide an orientation framework that assigns each process its place and, above all, makes the interfaces between the processes transparent.
  • Responsible managers are assigned to the processes, who continuously take care of their execution and optimization. The process owners have sufficient competencies to make decisions promptly. Cooperation with the managers of the functional organizational structure is regulated.
  • A process management governance regulates how the process-oriented organization is designed and managed. A central process management team is responsible for its continuous development and implementation.

Continuous and sustainable process control can therefore only be achieved if this is also supported by strengthening the process orientation in the organization.
