A process model is a complete and structured model of processes that clearly defines the customer requirements for each process. The interaction of the processes in the provision of services, especially the interfaces at which they exchange input and output, can be recognized.
The process model usually consists of different levels. The top level of the process model is represented by the process map. Company departments (e.g., IT, HR) often design their process maps, which are not integrated across the organization. However, you can only successfully address all key requirements with a consistent process model that is binding for everyone. It is therefore advantageous to develop process models and process maps together.
